Coinless Slot Machines!

When I first started going to casinos, it was cool to get quarters and those dollar tokens back from the machine when you won. However, those days are becoming a thing of bygone days.

Many of the casinos are switching over to coinless ticket in/ ticket out system on the newer slot machines. This innovation has been the most quickly accepted change in slot history. Players no longer have to handle dirty coins or wait for a hopper fill if the machine runs out of coins when they cash out. They can start playing immediately by feeding bills into the dollar bill receptor of the machine without having to seek out a change person to purchase coins. These new coinless machines are a great convenience for the players and they have also been quite profitable for the casino because of player’s attitude towards machine credits.

Credits Are Money
Once you put your money into the bill receptor it is converted into machine credits. You must remember that credits on a slot machine are real money. Some players lose sight of this because the credits have no dollar amount attached to them. This makes it easy for some players to lose more money than they planned to. An easy way to get around this is to start by putting lower denomination bills into the machine to start. If you are planning on spending twenty dollars for a slot session get four five dollar bills and only put one in the machine at a time. If you lose the five dollars take a break or switch machines.

Switch Machines
There is no way to tell if a machine is ready to pay off. The machines are controlled by the random number generator and winning for the player is determined by luck. We have all played machines that seem to be “hot” and we have all had playing sessions with little or no wins on a “cold” machine. Don’t keep feeding bills into losing machine. If you lose your initial session money, then switch to a different machine. While there is no guarantee that the next machine will be any better it may help you in two ways. First it will force you to take a few minutes break while you select a new machine to play. Secondly it will give you some satisfaction that your tried something different rather than just pumping more money into a losing machine.

Don’t be Lazy
Another downfall of the new ticket out machines is that sometimes players are lazy. If they only have a few credits on the machine they will choose to play them off rather than cashing out and walking over to the cage to redeem their ticket for a few dollars. This is exactly what the casino hopes you will do. Don’t give in to the temptation to throw your money away.

Watch the Bill Receptor
When you feed a bill into the receptor of the slot machine make sure you watch it go into the machine. Sometimes the receptor will spit the bill back out if it is crinkled or inserted wrong. If you look away when the bill comes back out, a quick thief can snatch it quickly leaving you to wonder why the credits did not register on your machine.

Remember to Take your Ticket
Just as you need to watch the bill receptor when you money is going into the machine, you also need to keep an eye on the ticket you receive when you cash out. The ticket you receive from the machine is the same as cash and you should treat it as such. If your ticket is lost or stolen you are out of luck. You should also be aware that in most casinos the tickets expire after a certain amount of time. You should make it a habit to cash them in immediately.

Bring Identification
When you hit a large hand pay jackpot you will be required to show a photo ID. Have it ready for the attendant. They will check to make sure you are of legal age. If you are underage, the casino can deny you your winnings. If the jackpot is over $1,200 you will be required to fill out a tax form as well. Be prepared to supply your social security number

Have a Plan
Have a Money Management and Playing Strategy set up BEFORE you even get into the casino. Going into a casino without a money management or playing strategy is a sure way to spend more than you planed to. If you planed to play quarter slots don’t sit down at a dollar machine.

How to Win at the Slots!

I don't know about you all but when I go to the casino, I just LOVE to play the slots! Some of my personal favorites are Wheel of Fortune, Goldfish, Wizard of Oz, and Hot Hot Penny. There are more and more new slots to play all the time. I love the spinning reels....and hitting the bonus games.

Usually, I will try to make my money last as long as I can. However, sometimes it is easy to get caught up in the action and POOF....my bankroll is gone. By following these tips though, I find that I win more than I lose.

The below slots secrets show you how to win slots.

DO play Max Credits whenever possible. Most machines only pay out their larger jackpots on a Max Credits play; so don’t short-change yourself by playing one or two coins at a time.
DON’T try to time the machine’s spins. Computerized slot machines determine their outcome by the millisecond (1/1000th of a second) the player tells the machine to spin. There’s no rhythm or pattern that a human can use to beat an online slots machine.
DO look for machines in high-traffic areas. While you may have a quieter, more peaceful time away from the hustle and bustle of the casino crowd, you’ll also have a quiet, peaceful time throwing away your money. Casinos put their “hotter” machines in high-traffic areas to attract interest, so take advantage of the “advertisement”.
DON’T play above your bankroll. A good rule to remember is to take your bankroll (the money you’ve set aside to play) and divide it by the number of hours you intend to play. For example, if you have one hundred dollars and want to play for five hours, you should play, on average, twenty dollars an hour.
DO select a denomination that fits your comfort level. As stated above, if you have one hundred dollars to play with over five hours, you may not want to play a machine that costs five dollars per credit. Be sure to select a machine that allows you to play Max Credits at an affordable level and lets you stretch out your money (and fun)!
DON’T take another spin if you’ve won a jackpot. If you do, the machine may either short pay you (pay less than the jackpot) or void your win. If you win a big prize and the machine doesn’t give you back the full amount, press the “Call Attendant” button and ask for help.
DO use your slot club card every time you play. Remember, the more often you play and the higher your average bet, the faster you’ll accumulate points toward free food, free souvenirs, free slot tournaments, even a free hotel stay!
DON’T put your profits back into the machine. Many players, through a combination of fatigue and reflex, continue to pull that arm or press that button even after they’ve accumulated a nice profit. If you’ve gotten lucky enough to build up your winnings, follow the advice of the old Eagles song: take the money and run!
DO take full advantage of all comps and free offers. Slot machines are the lifeblood of a modern casino. DO ask a slot attendant or change person for help. If you want to find the best machines for your denomination of play or if you want to know about the newest and most fun machines, slot attendants can point you in the right direction and a change person can give you the change you need to get started.
DON’T forget your winnings! Let’s hope this tip isn’t necessary, but many players get so excited (or, in the case of long playing sessions, exhausted) that they forget to cash out. If your cash out comes in the form of tokens, gather them in one of the convenient plastic buckets and haul your load of well-earned winnings to the cashier cage. If your game prints out a paper ticket, most casinos have machines that will read the amount on your ticket and dispense the proper payout in cash.
DO remember to tip your slot attendant. Just like a dealer at a table game, a slot attendant earns most of his income from gratuities. While the size of your tip may not guarantee you get the hot machine, withholding such a courtesy will most likely insure a cold shoulder.
DON’T think that a “cold” machine is “due” to hit. Remember, each spin is a random event. Previous results have no effect on your next spin. If you’ve made thirty spins and come up dry each time, that doesn’t mean that the odds on number thirty-one will be any better (or any worse).
